Hello! I am Misty Awan and I am excited to be leading Staten Island Hebrew Public. This will be my 16th year in education. I started teaching right after college and taught for eight years in Montgomery County Public Schools, in Maryland. I found my way into leadership and charter schools by leading in New Haven, CT and then landing here in New York City, where I was an Assistant Principal for five years and a consultant for the Department of Education.

I live with my husband and toddler who keeps us busy! I love to travel, cook, read, be outdoors and when I find time, exercise. I can’t wait to start the school year, meet all of our staff, students and families, and lead my team in having the best school in Staten Island and in New York State!
